In a bustling world of mass-produced accessories, there exists a small, local shop online that radiates authenticity and creativity. Sining by Jobelle Medina, lovingly curated by the talented Jobelle herself, is a haven for handmade treasures that seamlessly blend art, craft, and design. At a young age, Jobelle already possessed an innate talent for creating beauty with her hands.
During her college years, Jobelle, alongside her friends, birthed the concept of "Junkshionista" – a whimsical line of accessories crafted from unconventional materials. Resin bottle caps, papier-mâché, transformed cassette tapes, utensil pendants, and even keyboard and Lego rings found new life in their hands. It was a testament to their ingenuity and dedication to turning discarded objects into wearable works of art.
It was in April 2017 when tassel earrings began to dominate fashion trends. Jobelle took a nostalgic dive into her grandmother's sewing stash, determined to craft a pair. Little did she know that this simple experiment would ignite an insatiable hunger to create. Enthralled by the process, she found herself producing more designs than she initially intended.
What caught our eye recently, though, are her beautiful handmade resin clutches. “I used to handle resin before for making accessories back in college, but materials then were very limited. But a couple years ago, materials for resin-making have become more accessible. So I started making small items, usually earrings and pendants with small botanical items and color tints,” she shared.
“Then I had a couple of requests to preserve pet furs and bridal flowers as coasters. But when I was invited to attend a garden wedding last year, I wanted to match my outfit with the theme, so I thought of designing a floral clutch initially for myself. I eventually enjoyed making it, so I ended up having a few clutches and at first, I just wanted to get the excess off my hands. But, they were soon sold out and then, I started to get personalized orders already.
Some clients would have a specific design in mind and would send their bouquets, but most often, they would let me design their clutches. I always give them at least three layouts to choose from.”
Preserving the bridal bouquet has become a cherished tradition among many brides, as it holds sentimental value and serves as a beautiful memento of their special day. And turning them into practical, decorative clutches was such a great idea.
“Thankfully, all my clients love their clutches. They find it very unique and a good conversation piece, especially when their friends give them compliments. I also had a couple of clients who were rarely given bouquets by their partners and they wanted to preserve that memory, so they asked me to design their clutches.”
For brides seeking to preserve their cherished bouquets, Sining by Jobelle Medina offers a wonderful opportunity to transform these sentimental blooms into timeless keepsakes. And by entrusting their bouquets to Jobelle's skilled hands, brides can ensure that the delicate petals and vibrant colors are preserved, capturing the essence of their wedding day in a tangible and visually stunning way.
