We sat down with celebrity hairstylist and TRESemmé hair expert Mark Rosales at his very own Mark’ed Salon, to learn more about starting a new chapter in his career and why hair care will always be at the heart of everything he does.
You have your very own salon now! How have you been and how did you come up with the name Mark’ed Salon?
I would like to think that right now, we are entering a new era. It’s Marke’d Salon—this time, with a K. To be honest, the whole concept of conceptualizing the name Mark’ed is so cute. Initially, I just wanted to make it my name, but I asked help from my cousin and my sister and they said let’s add an apostrophe.
What’s with the apostrophe? Does it mean anything?
It symbolizes the bridge between tangible and intangible. My sister and my cousin made me realize that it’s actually what I’ve been doing with my clients. As a hairstylist, I don’t just want clients to experience getting fabulous hair. I also want to connect with them to give them love and care. I want to make a mark in their lives—which is also Mark’ed Salon’s tagline.
Why is it so important for you to advocate for hair care?
Before, people really didn't [pay attention] to scalp care—or even wellness. These things are seen as luxuries. But over time, we were able to see how people visit a salon only to request for generic or on-trend hair treatments.
But at Mark’ed Salon, we want to be able to properly assess the state of a person’s hair and provide specific solutions. We want to let our clients know that taking care of your scalp and your hair is as important as taking care of your skin.
As a hair expert, what are the most important things to consider when taking care of your hair?
The number one thing to consider is your hair status. We help customers do this through the help of the hair scanner. Second, it’s what kind of salon treatments you get and hair products you use to take care of your hair.

Now that you’re entering a new era, what parts of the past would you take with you as you move forward and is there anything you’ll leave behind?
Marqed Salon is very close to my heart. In my 10 years in the industry, my time with Marqed Salon has really made a big impact on me. So, really, I will not leave anything behind. But for sure, I will continue to grow, innovate, and find new ways to advocate for hair care.
