In a world full of unknowns, it's often the turns we didn't see coming that bring us the most success.
So goes the story of Miss Derm, a safe space for aestheticians and beauty professionals who found themselves jobless at the height of the pandemic in 2020. It wasn’t easy for its Managing Director, Marzen Salazar, to open a salon here in the Philippines (back then, when times were much more unpredictable) and manage it all the way from Oman, but she did. And she did so gracefully, wholeheartedly, and purposefully.
On May 30, Miss Derm celebrated its third anniversary–a spectacular and inspiring display of strength, determination, and foresight to see problems as opportunities and do the toil to turn those dreams into reality.
It was an intimate, but festive event attended by Marzen herself, all her staff members (from all three of their branches), social media influencers, writers, and key people from various industries. On one side of the room, a beautiful grazing table was set up and on the other, a row of beds where guests were given complimentary treatments such as lash lifts, lash extensions, diode laser hair removals, HIFU facials, and more.
A few of us from the Parlon team got to try out some of their treatments, and needless to say, we were so happy not just with the results, but also with how warm and professional their aestheticians are. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you updated on the treatments we did and the results, soon!
As Miss Derm celebrates its third anniversary, the future looks promising. The beauty lounge has not only overcome adversity, but thrived in the face of challenges as well. Marzen envisions expanding the business and opening more branches to continue providing employment opportunities for beauty experts, while continuing to deliver exceptional beauty services to all their clients.
By turning adversity into an opportunity, Miss Derm has created a space where talent flourishes, clients feel pampered, and the community is uplifted. As their future unfolds, Miss Derm remains a shining example of how a blessing in disguise can lead to great success.
Miss Derm has branches at Centuria Medical Salamanca Poblacion, Makati; Unit 304, Aurora Building, Alabang–Zapote Rd, Almanza Uno, Las Piñas; and 20 Shorthorn St, Project 8, Quezon City.
