On February 11 and 12, and for the first time ever, Parlon joined the Globe KmmunityPH K'tizens' Choice Awards (KKCA) 2022 as an event partner! It was a daebak weekend full of cheers, excitement, and all-around good vibes.
Here are some event highlights that made Bonifacio High Amphitheater the place to be for all hallyu stans and their chingus:
1. The Wheel of Fortune—Parlon style
As part of the guests’ mission to complete their “passport,” they had to drop by different booths and participate in the activities of each one. For Parlon, they had to sign up for an account at the website before they can spin the wheel and win a prize. They had the chance to win a P250 gift code, P250 gift code with a lightstick, two P250 gift codes, or a P300 gift code.
Any guess as to which prize everyone wanted to get? The one with the lightstick, of course! It was perfect accessory, too, for the program and performances on both nights.
2. The multi-sensory experience
It was Parlon’s first time to join the KmmunityPH K'tizens' Choice Awards and with just one glance, it was no surprise why the K-community has grown over the years and why they’ve kept coming back to the event. The entire experience was a feast for the senses—from videos that visually and audibly grabbed attention to food that enticed everyone with their taste and smell. All that was missing was the real Korean setting!
3. Promo code galore
Of course, no hallyu fan went home without a treat from Parlon! Everyone who dropped by the booth definitely got at least one scrunchie with a promo code attached to it. Now, if they want to cop their bias’ latest hairstyle or nail art, they can use it to get a deal from Parlon for even less than the deal prices. They even got to take selfies and capture memories by the Parlon mirror, too! Win-win!
4. Concert-level performances that slayed
The K-culture influence among Filipinos is often seen on videos, usually of the younger generation, as they sing and dance along to their favorite K-pop songs. The vibe was definitely no different at the event! On both nights, attendees and the entire community were treated to energetic performances from A-Team, Bailey May, Cassy Legaspi, Teenage, VXON, and G22. Huge highlights, for sure!
Best believe that much like the soundchecks of their favorite K-pop artists and groups, their practice runs in the afternoons were already met with loud cheers and palpable excitement from the crowd!
5. Marqed Salon Creative Director Mark Rosales’ talk on hairstyles for every face shape
Ever wondered what your face shape really is and if your hairstyle suits your face shape? Well, Marqed Salon’s creative director Mark Rosales, one of Parlon’s partner merchants, shared a few tips on how to identify those two things. If you want your latest hairstyle to also ride on the hallyu wave, just look for a Korean artist who has the same face shape as you and use their hair as your peg.
But, at the end of the day, as Mark said, “As long as you’re happy with what you wear, you’re beautiful.” Inner beauty still wins, Besties! 🥰
6. Karen Alberto of Korean Beauty Institute and her introduction of the latest Korean skincare wonder
By now, it’s no secret that Korean skincare or K-beauty has been the gold standard of all forms of skincare. Everyone wants to have that glassy and supple skin, sending purchases of Korean-made sheet masks and serums through the roof. Whether it’s a fashion show, a singing contest, or an acting contest, everyone brought their A-game and truly captured the essence of the Korean artists and celebrities they stan.
9. The energetic and colorful Kmmunity
If there’s one thing that was evident althroughout the event and among all the people in it: The Kmmunity is a strong and supportive community of fans and stans who are loudly and proudly riding the hallyu wave. Some are entertained by it; some are inspired by it; some have made it their way of life. Their degrees of stan-ning may vary, but there’s no doubt that the (Korean) force is strong with these ones.
10. The inevitable influence of the K-culture
There’s no denying it: The K-culture and hallyu wave are definitely here to stay! It’s not a trend nor a fad; in fact, a lot of Filipinos and Filipinas from different age groups have welcomed them with open arms and gladly embraced their influence on our ownculture. To see how it becomes even stronger and more popular in the near future is definitely something to be excited about!
So, the next time you see people—young and ever-young—suddenly break into a dance or sing their hearts out in Korean, you know which community they come from!
