On August 20, Parlon spent the day with Hallyu stans at the Hallyu Market, held at SM Skydome. This event was organized by Makeitlive, featuring over 70+ K-Merchants of official merchandise, photocards, fan-art, K-Beauty, and K-Cafe.
Together with fellow co-presenters and event partners, Parlon had a booth and joined in the fun by giving away treats, vouchers, and freebies althroughout the day, while showcasing what Parlon is all about. Aside from the fun activities, several Parlon partners also dropped by Hallyu Market to do a mini-talk onstage on K-beauty and wellness—complete with engaging games and exciting prizes, of course!
First up was Guiden Faith of The Secret Lounge. With two branches tucked within Bonifacio Global City and Parañaque City, The Secret Lounge is the first speakeasy, beauty bar lounge in the metro that features a bar especially made for your companions and partners who wait for you as you get your beauty service done. Here, they can enjoy complimentary drinks—be it wine, whiskey, coffee, or tea.

Trusted by celebrities, models, and beauty queens, The Secret Lounge is best known for its eyelash extensions, even getting the #1 spot (pun intended!) in SPOT.ph’s list of “Top 10 Places for Eyelash Extensions in Manila.”
At Hallyu Market, Guiden talked about the different types of eyelash extensions that they can curate for you, especially since Asians don't genetically come with fuller and longer lashes. In fact, she shared that Korean celebrities actually prefer eyelash extensions over "falsies" (or false eyelashes).
Check out these eyelash extensions that you can get at The Secret Lounge:
✨ Girl Next Door: They’re natural-looking lashes that are perfect for adding definition to the eyes. There’s no need for make-up, too, and you can even choose the type of curl that you want.
✨ Girl Boss: This gives off a semi-mascara look and adds a little extra oomph to your natural lashes. They’re perfect for an everyday look and don’t need any mascara. Just a pop of tint and you’re good to go.
✨ Uptown Girl: If you’re someone who’s always in events that require glamming up, this full-mascara look is the one for you.
What’s great about getting eyelash extensions at The Secret Lounge is that they offer a natural, "woke up like this" feeling with the extra lash volume. So, you can be assured that you won’t feel uncomfortable and bothered by them; it’s almost like they’re really part of your lashes. The best part? You can score deals and book an appointment with them in less than 30 seconds, thanks to Parlon!
Aside from highlighting The Secret Lounge’s services, Guiden also introduced O2 Skin Lab to the Hallyu community. Koreans are known to be very particular with everything, especially beauty. Their influence has people investing more in skincare nowadays, having realized its importance.
Enter O2 Skin Lab and their Signature Korean Facial. This service includes a massage that helps regulate blood flow and close pores, resulting in flawless-looking skin and an even skin tone over time.
It’s great for those who want to achieve that Korean glass-skin, thanks to 110 minutes of facial deep-cleansing, tightening, and lifting. This procedure also comes with ultra-hydrating masks and moisturizers for a complete experience. Just like with The Secret Lounge, you can also get this on a deal and book an appointment with O2 Skin Lab through Parlon.
(Pro-tip: These two establishments are actually very near each other, so you can hit two birds with one stone!)
The other Parlon partner who joined us at Hallyu Market was Mark Anthony Rosales of Marqed Salon. With branches at Greenhills, Weidmann’s Plaza in the South, and Parañaque City (and another one soon at Bonifacio Global City!), this hair salon advocates for total hair care and is known for their innovative expertise on the craft of hairstyling.

At Hallyu Market, Mark talked about an important tip in achieving Korean-inspired hairstyles: Know your face frame.
✨ Round-shaped face: It’s the most brilliant and beautiful face because the most prominent feature are your cheekbones, which means you can look forever young. 🡆 Your K-celeb inspiration: Kim Chaewon
✨ Square-shaped face: This is a very model-like face. It’s sometimes considered as masculine-looking, too, because of all the angles. The most prominent feature here is your jawline, which makes for the best face shape for layers. 🡆 Your K-celeb inspiration: Ku Hye Sun
✨ Oval-shaped face: The most prominent feature here is your forehead, which is why people with this face shape lean towards having bangs and tendrils. Make no mistake, however: This face shape is the most proportional among all the shapes. 🡆 Your K-celeb inspiration: Sunmi
✨ Triangle-shaped face: The most prominent feature here is the chin. The go-to hairstyle is by creating an illusion on the forehead through curtain bangs and bobs. 🡆 Your K-celeb inspiration: Yoo In Na
✨ Heart-shaped face: Not sure if you’ve got one? Just get a headband to pull your hair back, look at your hairline, and see if it has a heart-shaped outline. 🡆 Your K-celeb inspiration: Eunha
At the end of the day, these are guides only, of course. As long as you're comfortable and confident with the hair that you have, you're 100% beautiful, Bestie!
Mark also talked about do-it-yourself (DIY) bleaching and how Marqed Salon, as an advocate for hair care, advises against it. Here’s what Mark has to say about it:
DIY bleaching is not advisable because your hair is very unique. The formula for you may not work on others. That's why Marqed Salon has a hair scanner—the first salon in the Philippines to use science during hair consultations.
What type of hair is not recommended for bleaching? One that’s been rebonded, permed, or bleached or chemically-treated multiple times.
However, if you really want to bleach your hair, Mark reminds everyone to go about it the right and safe way:
👍 Do a hair consultation with an expert.
👍 Moisturize your hair and make sure to practice post-haircare.
👍 Use purple shampoo. It has a purple pigment that helps correct the brassiness of hair and retain the color. Marqed Salon's own purple shampoo is especially formulated for Asian hair.
Before Mark ended his segment, he did a demonstration of one hairstyle that students and the Hallyu community can do and even transform into different ways—perfect for a day-to-night hairstyle!
If you want to check out Marqed Salon’s deals and book an appointment with them, just find them on Parlon!
(Pro-tip: The Parañaque branch of both The Secret Lounge and Marqed Salon are within the same location, so you can get your eyelash extensions, nails, and hair done all in one go!)
